On Wednesday, September 19th, we were inspired by the sculptures of Niki De Saint Phalle. To begin, we read a fabulous picture book about De Saint Phalle's work titled
"Niki's World" by Ulrich Krempel.
Her extremely playful, imaginative water fountains at the Pomipdou Center in Paris were perfect exemplars for this activity. Students created their own small designs for a water fountain, sculpting with vibrant color, using Model Magic and straws (cut to size, for water flow). Sequin were available for those who wanted to add even more decorative appeal. Do take a look below. We LOVE these!

These water fountains were successful in every way: They were imaginative, playful, colorful and inviting! Kudos Beye Discovery students!!!
Following the sculpture activity, the students made more terrific creations with Legos and Fun Fusion Perler Beads. Way to go!
