Week 5: Exquisite Corpse

Hi Families!

On Thursday, Marta led the class in the classic "exquisite corpse" activity with a special twist: she appealed to the students' interests in superheroes to generate a superhero persona (alter ego, etc.) of their own. To push the children's imaginations even further, Marta asked them to consider plant forms from the Garfield Park Conservatory Field Trip and how such forms may contribute to their super hero's special powers or physical appearance (vines for lasso's, leaf forms for wings, etc.) We began by researching superheroes in the computer lab and then moved back to the classroom to complete the activity. We will compile the students' images to create an interactive "mix and match" book for each class member: top, middle and bottom segments will be cut horizontally across the page to create numerous superhero configurations as one flips through the pages of the book. Images of the process are included below, beginning with our research of superheros in the computer lab. Please stay tuned: when the books are complete, we will share them with you!
